I have a 77 L-48 4sp unrestored with 87k miles on it. Some of my friends and I were discussing axle ratios and I was pretty sure that my car had a 3.36:1 but after doing some calculations we think it may have a 3.70:1. From what I have read I thought the 3.36 was the stock ratio for this car and the 3.08 was optional. So, can yall help me? What's the stock ratio for a 77 with a wide ratio manual?
On a side note, what was the ratios for a 79 L-82 auto, both optional and standard?
Jack it up, rotate the rear wheel one turn and count hqw many times the driveshaft turns. 3 turns of the driveshaft = 3.08, 3 1/3 = 3.36,
3 3/4 = 3.70.
