I had a similar situation last summer. Shifter kept jamming in reverse and I tried everything I could. Finally broke down & took it into a local hot rod/custom shop. I was going away on vacation and figured he could work on her while I was away.
My vette must not have liked that because the next day the owner calls and said the starter shorted out and took the battery with it.
So taking her in to fix the shifter cost me a new starter & wiring and battery too @$70/hr. Thats only the second time I let anyone touch my Vette.
I run a shop and let me tell you,60 bucks is a fair price. Why do people insist on taking there car to a shop and then not want to pay for it?If you want it done free do it yourself.
FREE Hell? When I do **** myself it usually ends up costing me triple.
1) It costs me the first time I do it because I end up breaking something else and if I dont break something else I end up wanting to do more than needed.
2) It costs me the second time to take the time off from work to do it.
3) It costs me the third time for my man hours which cost a lot more than the usual labor rate the shop charges.
$60.00 I think is a very fair price. Good luck with your probs.
