All you need is a new dist shaft installed into that existing housing.
I have a new cap, rotor, vacuum advance, accel hei super coil, and recurve kit. So i dont want to buy a new dis if i can help it. Where do you get the dist shaft. thanks
I agree with finding a used one for parts but I had the same situation myself with the pin breaking loose. This is the bubba way out but I used some JB weld and set back into place and let it sit for a day. That was a year ago and have never had a problem since. You can't find that pin as a part anywhere.
Well where ever you guys can find a dist. for 5-15 bucks more power to you i called everywhere in huntsville and the cheapest one i found was 50 bucks.
The weight pins ARE available NEW. Go to any local parts house that sells "Standard Ignition" brand (aka "Standard Motor Products Corporation") ... ask for part number DG-50. If the center is loose on shaft ... simply have it tack-welded.
-edit- Before welding on top of an HEI distributor shaft ... you MUST remove the ignition module ... the pickup can stay in place so long as module has been removed and the pickup's terminals are not touching one-another.
