my frt bumper is truflex bought in 1999, had 2 stress cracks along the bumperettes(each side of the licesne plate/or center grill), he ground the cracks in a ''v'' pattern filled with fiberglas resin and sanded and painted, nothin special
I replaced the front bumper on my 82 because I thought it was too far gone to repair. When I got my car back from John at Corvette Specialist he told me that it might have been quicker and easier to fix the original one. I still have that old bumper and you are welcome to it if you want to practice before you do yours.
I had to cut my tru flex in half and widen it 3/4 of an inch to get it to fit to my 75. The manufacturer, Toledo Fiberglass said to just use regular fiberglass resin and cloth. You lose the truflex properties in the area that has regular resin but the repairs bond fine. Make sure you remove the factory paint from all surfaces prior to doing the repairs.

Just an idea that came to me, instead of using polyester resin, try using epoxy resin, its much more flexible. Thats whats recomended in building ceder canoes, it absorbs shock much better.

Thx 28buick, i've been waiting to read this as i have a Toledo rear bumber that hardly lines up anywhere with the rear body. And i will need to do some filling to match these parts up before painting.
Michel B, can u mix the 2 resins? Well they bond? All i know is that one type has a faster cure time and one resin is much more sensitive to the amount of hardner mixed into it than the other resin.
