Default Milkshake Oil

What could cause oil to look like a tan milkshake other than coolant getting into the oil?

Don't worry my car is ok.

Condensation from a lot of short trips...not letting the oil burn off captured moisture.

Coolant, or you poured water in the oil fill. It takes quite a bit of water to make a milkshake. Head gasket?

Head gasket or condensation on the dipstick.

Does the top of of the heads look like a milk shake buildup? If the dip stick or even the oil filler cap has that milkshake residue, and the oil itself look fine your doing possibly to much short trip driving.. If you had a blown head gasket you whould know the engine whouldnt run great.. but you stated that yours was fine ..

PCV system inop is one possibility.

I guess I should come clean with you guys, this happened to my dirtbike this morning. But I asked the question over here because the Kawasaki forum guys don't know anything about engines by comparison.

Anyways the engine is a 2 stroke air cooled engine. So theres no coolant to introduce into the system. I just looked at the engine right now, 1/2 an hour after it was running and the oil looks normal again. I'm thinking that it was just the crankshaft sloshing the oil around... not sure.

There's another thing, I just noticed that the crankcase vent was blocked off...

Surprise to you, 2 strokes don't use crankcase oil, they do however use oil in the transmission.

A 2 stroke bike has no oil in the crankcase either. There is oil in the gear box but not the crank case.

If you are talking the oil in the gear box you have gotten water in there somehow. I did this on an old dirt bike I had. Drain and refilled and no problem.

That happened to me one time in my 55 Chevy. At the time I was running a 301 using an early 283 block. Seems the bore was that thin that it had cracked. I never knew it until I heard water dripping from my breathers onto my headers, making a sizzling sound. Upon checking the oil, it was fuller than normal and a nice, milky brown.

Yeah, the trans and the crank share the gear oil. But I wasn't driving the bike so the sloshing must have been engine related.

Sorry for trying to pull a quick one on you guys. But I was desperate.

The trans and crank should not share any oil at all. They should be seperate units. 2 strokes have the fuel/oil mix go through the crankcase and this is where the bearings get their lube from.

Why not call the Kawasaki place and ask them! Simple as that.

Then how did the engine running in neutral cause the gear oil to foam up? I thought that the premix just lubricated the reed valves. Also if the premix was all that lubricates the engine, how does it get past the piston ring to lubricate the crank bearings?
