Default wanted: ideas on fuel filter bracket attachment pt

As I put the original fuel lines and filter back on the car, it appears that the filter bracket attaches to the smog pump that I dont have.

Do I need this bracket? I am interested to see how others have rigged up an attachment point.

If you are tal,ing about the canister type, and you still have the hard fuel lines in place fromteh pump tot he filter, and the filer to the carb, then you dont need a bracket, the hard lines will hold it in place ( i have the same situation on my 68) if you have soft lines runnning in either or both places, you may want to fab something up to hold it stead=y, or just make sure that the filter is over the manifold and away form rotating stuff

This was my simple solution to the problem if you are going with OEM. I just used a hardware store line clamp and made a L-bracket off the head accessory bolt hole.

- Somebody posted a while back that without the bracket you risked a cracked fuel line from the vibrations. I got paranoid and fabbed up a bracket using a coil bracket, and I attached it with a clamp to the bypass hose! ( I know, extremely BUBBA!!!) It did stop the vibration of the filter, but I thought it transmitted too much heat to the filter so I took it off and stopped worrying about cracked fuel lines.

- I would guess most people in your situation just don't use the bracket.

Red,

Thanks for the pics...Thats the first thing I thought about doing as well...until I remembered that my heads have no bolt holes in the front of them

But I do like your bracket...looks like it belongs there

I have all the same concerns...bubba look, cracked fuel line from bad vibes...just wanted to see what others have rigged up.

I am using all the original hard lines...guess I'll make the call on the bracket after I get if all connected...what about the bolt hole that goes through to the fuel pump shaft? Maybe it is too far away to provide any stability...

uless you have some reeely bad vibration, i woulnt worry about those lines breaking.... been on the road for 3 years now and who knows how long before i got the car and no cracks.....

if you do use a bracket though make sure its has a rubber liner
