I am a new user. I am restoring a 1970 SB. I am looking at a crate engine as an option. Will the JEGS 350 HO engine with HEI distributor and high-rise intake fit under the hood without modifications?
You will also have issues with the HEI distributor not matching your mechanical driven Tachometer. You will have to convert your existing tach to an electric one for the HEI setup, unless you are also getting a mechanical tach drive HEI unit.
I did a lot of searching and question asking about the manifold/factory hood fit. I too was upgrading intakes and worried about under hood fit..the high rises and even medium rises like Edelbrock's RPM and Air-Gap would not fit under the factory hood.
I ended up going with a Edelbrock Performer intake and have found a lot of SB drivers that have done the same!! Also - do you really need the high rise intake, it's a SB and a lot of folks overkill on intake and carburation with SB's. High rises and big carbs are really more "fit" for BB's.
