Carb Question
Gonna jump on the 71. Any suggestions before I bolt it on? Also, what kind of a choke should it have??
Thank you for all the replies fella's

I spoke with the fella last night for more clarification on the carbon issue and the problem is indeed on the left side. Probably Head or rings related. He said he wouldn't be concerned because of how strong the engine is (that statement confuses me because he could have made more money telling me I need a rebuild or head work). What I can't figure out is why is left side exaust dark and rich compared to the right side
I would think that if it was an oil issue it would be blue, not black. With that being said and Lars saying the 81 Q-jet isn't that great of a carb I'm still gonna buy the 71 and throw it on, what the hell
There's now way I would attempt to bolt it on without having it gone thru so my question is this; Should I still buy it and send it somewhere for a rebuild and spit shine or order a rebuilt one from a company like jet? Which route makes the most financial sense????
Or should I look at another brand altogether???
