Default C3 Won't Start

In January I topped off the tank added Sta-Bil, car ran great as it always does/did, garaged it, now it won't start.

I went down the mental check list(fuel, spark, timing):
- battery is stong,
- carb is getting fuel,
- plugs are getting fuel,
- the plugs are getting spark

No spiders or cridders have nested or chewed anything, distributor cap and rotor look fine, distributor hold down is tight(hasn't moved).

I haven't check the timing, but how could that have changed?

I'm thinking the gas went bad, is that possible, ideas welcome??

Thanks

I just had a similar problem. Turns out a wire to the alternator had worked it's way loose.

does it do anything when you turn the key? Will it crank but just not turn over? Does it just click?

I'll check the alternator plug.

It just cranks away, never firing not even a sputter of misfire.

Are the plugs gas-soaked?Try alittle starting fluid in the carb, will it run off of that?

Try a shot of starting fluid, if it fires, get rid of the old gas.
Good luck!

Quite alongtime ago, I owned a 67 GTO. Once after driving it for quite some time, I parked it. When I went out later to go home, the car wouldn't start. Turns out the timing gear teeth were gone. Seemed strange as it ran fine before I parked it. Is your rotor turning when you crank it?

What happens if you dump some gas into the carb and crank it? Fresh Gas?

Default Bad Gas

Gas can go bad in a little as 30 days. Sta-bil claims in goes bad in 60.

Gas should be ok. How do you know that plugs are getting spark? Check coil and coil wires. When did you last change the points?

Thanks to all of you for your help!

I picked up some starter fluid and a six pack, and I didn't even get a cold one poped before the beast was up and running.

When it was all said and done, I think I had 2 issues, 1 still remains.
1 - The gas is turning bad
2 - I flooded the the car, even thou the plugs weren't soak

The combination of the bad gas and the fact that I have been driving FI cars instead of the fiberglass piggy bank, led to the issue.

A couple of blast of starter fluid got it running and I was able to keep it going (but not that smooth) after that.

So now for the fun of burning off the gas, I hope it's nice this weekend!
