Help; stalling

My car has been running well pretty much all winter until recently. Currently it will start up, run fine even under hard acceleration, but after about an hour or so it will just stall while idling at a stop light. You can feel the engine starting to stumble a bit and then it stalls. I can start the car again, although it takes a few cranks and then it will run with no problems for awhile. Any thoughts as to what causes this? Please let me know.

Cars with electronic ignitions have this problem when the ignition module is failing.

thanks. I guess I should have noted mines a '79.
