Default hooker chrome headers

I'm in the process of a frame off on my 68 convertable. I rebuilt the chassis and complete engine overhaul. My question is-- after starting the engine on the chassis I noticed that only a few of the header tubes
turned blue close by the heads. Is that NORMAL or do I HAVE A LEAN OR RICH CONDITION?? Here is what I built-468ci edelbrock
rpm 110cc aluminum heads,6al MSD, KB pistons, comp cams 284 244@
.050, mighty demon carb, sts baffles, air gap intake, complete balanced
eagle rotating assembly, dewits rad. roller rockers,. Engine started
and ran perfect. Ran for 20 minutes at 2500rpm. also I know that they will all turn blue but wondered is there any way of cleaning the the blueing? AS ALLWAYS THANKS.

I'm fairly sure this is normal as a carb will never distribute fuel comepletly evenly so some cylinders will always run hotter/colder/leaner/richer than others.

You could always pull the plugs and see. I know that the idle mixture screws cause a problem with unequal mixtures every other cylinder. Ask me how I know !! But Beater is right. A carb will never be perfect. Intake runner lenghts have a lot to do with it. Good luck!!!

The stuff all the Harley riders use on their pipes is called semichrome polish, but the same maker has some stuff call Blue Away, (I haven't use the Blue Away, but I've used the semichrome when I had Harleys and it works great). Here's a link http://www.tunerschoice.com/xq/aspx/...qx/Product.htm
