Reduce the idle first. Turn in one idle mixture screw until the engine almost stalls and then bring it back out about 1/4 turn until it smooths out, then do the same with the other. Some use a vacuum gauge, but it's not necessary. Return your idle to the preferred setting. The idle mixture screws are on the sides of the carb.

I have the instructions at home. But as I recall it is: Start at 1 1/2 turns out. Attach a tach where you can see it. Then with the engine idling adjust each screw until the RPM peaks, then reset the idle screw.

wow that was fast thanks for the info! what rpm do i want to do this at? sounds like your sayin bring it down to about 400 or 500.

I figure ill just hook up the timing light for a tach. digital read out, so i can get the highest rpm to the T.

when u say 1 1/2 out? does that mean all the way in, then back out a turn and a half, and then adjust it?

thanks alot!
