I need some adjustable strut rods and I was also thinking about getting a shock tower brace. They look so easy to make, I was wondering how many people have done it. I remember someone mentioning that Norval made his own shock tower brace.
How is it done? Just with rod ends and threaded rod? I found plenty of rod ends at Summit but I couldn't find any threaded rod. What is it called? And can you just cut it to length? Is the rod threaded all the way through?
1 LH 1 RH 5/8 Rod end, 2 M16 bolts (allens are pretty ) a sleeve of the correct length (16"?) and some steel to fab the brackets...
Speedwaymotors sells the sleeves (threaded rods) in many lengths. you can also buy drilled hex or smooth rod and cut to lengthbut then you need a normal and a reverse thread 5/8 unf tap The rods you buy are threaded for only the first couple of inches

I don't have a spreader bar like you guys would use, mine ties into the front cage structure and the upepr shock towers. Look for norval's pictures, he made his own.
This is a homemade 16 inch bar with left and right 5/8th thread. You can buy this bar from Grisdale for about $12.00 There are also 2 5/8th rod ends, one left and one right for about $8.00 each.
The rest is a bracket that slips over the two studs on the upper A arm.
It was really simple to build
