69-4spd transmission interlock cable bends

I replaced this cable between the steering column and the 4-spd transmission and it keeps bending and getting hung up. Seems like the lever that the cable moves on the sterring column might be a little stiff. Anyone know how I can fix this? Can I lube it somehow without removing the steering column?

I think most people dis-engage the cable from the tranny and get rid of it. I know I did because it was causing problems.

Check to see if it's routed coorectly through all the brackets and that the steering clumn lever moves very easily.

I straightened mine out and really lubed it up with oil. You can oil it from the engine compartment easily since it slopes downward from there. It worked fine for many years until I replaced the transmission...

I think the lever on the steering column is actually the part that needs to be lubed. How do you do that?
