Hey George,
Scott said He called you a couple of times yesterday - I hope you got back to him. are you making good progress? What about the drive shaft?
Scott called in the morning while I was out. I still haven't recieved my Lakewood 15000 Bell Housing. That was supposed to arrive the next day which I thought would have been last Thursday or even Friday.
So I can't determine if they sent me the correct length drive shaft or not.
so, the pedals is not a pedal kit but just a new brake and clutch pedal that you have to mount in the pedal box itself? Wow, hefty price even then. I paid 50$ for a complete box, I know that's cheap but I'm fairly certain you can get a used pedal box, a clutch master and slave and fab a line w/ some enduraflex fittings and hose and it'll cost you less than 460 for sure.
They're not new, they're refurbished. But you do get new pedal cushions and trim pieces!
Chris,
I have the bracket and all the parts I have that goes with it in the car. I will send it Fex Ex from work tomorrow morning. Sorry about stealing this thread but I couldn't get into my private messages where I have one that I cannot read and am assuming it is from you.
Keisler buys their brake pedal kits refurbuished from Volunteer Vette. I would rather help a forum member than seeing someone get ripped off. This stuff isn't rocket science but some want to make you think it is and rip your head off in the process.
Bernie
Cool...Been watching these exchanges on this forum for months...Kesiler appears as more defensive than open about their product...strange....to bad...as those I have talked to like the Tranny......
I have a problem calling during the day. I don't make long distance calls on my work phone and this bomb shelter of a work place is cell phone and even pager proof. Nothing like construction of steel and concrete and then throw in Home Land Secuirity. I don't even have windows to know what it's like out side.
I think I bought a quality product. I just wish that the directions were a little more complete. I will be taking pictures of what to do to Keisler so future installers won't be so dumbfounded when they get boxes of little parts without any idea or picture of how they go together.
Hey George,
Scotts travelling today - he's on his way to my place - you could try his cell phone during the day - depending on coverage - he will be available. In any case - you can call at my plkace from tommorrow through saturday - we should both be arond - hopefully you can get this thing squared away. call Keisler and ask for a tracking number that way you can find your bell housing.
Robert - get this straightened out now - get george his bell housing! and if he needs a different drive shaft I would expect Keisler to make sure he gets the piece he needs - quickly
- you guys are better than this!
GKUll:
If you will measure from the back of your block down the centerline of the tunnel 26.090" and make a mark. Next measure over from mark 2.313" and make a pilot hole. This is the center of the shifter tower. Cut accordingly for the size of the billet tower to pass up through the floor. The above measurement of 26.090" is taking into account the depth of the lakewood that is in route to you now.
As for the frame bracket, yes it should be welded to the frame. We have not run across any issues with the brake line splitter being in the way of the mounting of this bracket. In regards to hydraulics, we do now have the kits in stock and I can get one to you if need be.
We do not offer the parts necessary to convert your console from auto to manual but I do have several vendors I can refer you to for this.
As our tech department monitors this and many other forums daily, if you or anyone out there are unable to call us directly simply send me a PM or e-mail at customerservice@keislerauto.com and I will respond.
By the way, I sent you a PM with the tracking number for your bell. According to my records the correct driveshaft is called out. If it is not correct, contact me a.s.a.p. and I will make it right.

thanks Richard! My experience with Keisler has always been - they, on ocassion will screw up - they also will bend over backwards to make it right! good product - excellent people to deal with!
Well I got my Lakwood SFI bell housing and motor shield. What a heavy duty blow proof unit.
All of my brake lines to the splitter are kind of made to length. So moving it out of way to weld up the clutch shaft ball end is going to have to take some creative thinking.
So I'm still in the drilling, cutting, welding stage. Little things like, I have to use a 1 inch hole saw to punch the fire wall for the clutch rod. Well I have a whole set of hole saws - or at least I thought that I did and the one inch is the only one missing out of the set.
I'm also building a custom Cross member because the kit cam for a C-3 TH350. I told the sales guy that I had a 700R4 tranny. I wasn't thinking at the time and should have ask if the 1982 conversion kit from Keisler used a different rear tranny mount to the TKO because of the longer tail shaft 700.
George,
You could fab a bracket to bolt to the front of the bellhousing and use a hydraulic slave and master cylinder. Save cutting your firewall.

Bernie - this is a hole for the clutch rod to pass through. My 79 has a hole in the inside panel, but the fire wall wasn't drilled and filled with a plug from the factory which seems strange. Jut like no hole in the console for a shifter. What did they have to custom make each 4 speed car?
George, I understand now. The master cylinder will cover that hole perfectly. You are going to love driving that manual! I slid the tranny into the bellhousing and that allowed me to mark where I needed to cut the hole in the tunnel. I used a cutoff wheel from under the car to make sure I would not hit the battery cable as I cut. Good luck on your custom fit swap.

When it gets done, I will feel better. Lot's of heart ache so far in the conversion from auto to Keislers TKO 600 kit. It's right up there in the - Is it worth it category. It's probably smarter buying a beater 4 speed car.
I should have bought a beater 4 speed and caged it out and put my 427 and 5 speed in it. Then pull my 383 back out of the box and reinstall it into my 79 Auto.
It was worth every penny of the $1,000.00 it cost me to install a 5 speed in my '79. I would do it again in a heart beat at twice the price! The acceleration is much faster, the tunnel stays cooler and cruising in 5th is wonderful!
