I was wondering if factory 69 L88s have the brake proportioning valve. I know that the 67&68s have them but I have heard that the 69s did not ,even though it is mentioned in the 69 owners manual. Thanks in advance.
It's not really a proportioning valve of the same type that other cars of this era had, since there are disc brakes at front and rear on Corvettes. It is more of a pressure regulating device, but since it does about the same job as a proportioning valve, most people call it that.
It has two functions, the first is adjust the amount of pressure on the front brakes in a case of heavy brake action. The second function was to provide a pressure monitor on the brake system. If pressure drops on either of the two brake systems the pressure switch is activated and lights up the brake alert light in the dash.
