Non Posi rear end?
Can a non posi rear end be rebuilt or changed to posi?

Absolutely, If your looking for a original posi carrier, I have one I'm not using I'd be willing to sell.

Not sure, it is whatever came in a '72 with 3.08 gears, probably a 3.

yes, 3 series were for 3.73's and lower, I already have one of those. Series 4 was for 4.10+

Len,you have an open diff? As you probably know I'd recommend building a good unit rather then just sticking a stock posi in the housing.

No, this was just a general question incase I buy one and it turns out to be a non-posi. It wasn't until 1970 that posi was standard equipment.

Most were posi but you'll still find some out there. Buying a used carrier sight unseen is tricky. The older square window units were more prone to cracking then the 70's carriers. The pin holes also need to be checked good.
