I rebuilt my rear suspension including the rear itself, now on the first test dirve there is a bad thumping on every revolution of the tires. could the half shafts be in wrong?I did notice on putting it back together at one point a bit of a binding when i was rotating the assembly to tighten the nuts on the half-shafts. ???
I was so eager to do a test drive after my rear end rebuild, I failed to tighten my lug nuts. When I took a spin around the block I heard / felt a thumping. When I went to check they were finger loose. Tightened them down and then no more problem.
Check to make sure you didn't pop a joint cap. If they were tight then you might have a bent flange which will prevent the clip from fully seating. Look for any sign of hitting anywhere. Is the noise isolated to one side?
