After a lot of help from forum users, I finally got the console bezel off to replace the clock. Now the next question is what powers the clock? The reason why I ask is that on the back of the clock was a wire that was not connected to anything else. Is that a ground wire or a hot wire? Does the circut board power the clock? Help?
The circuit board powers the clock in my 80. There are no extra wires. Looks like BUBBA has been in your car. Shouldn't be to difficult to repair now that you have the instument cluster out. Good luck.
Im working on the same thing right now and have my clock in my hand. My car is also a 1980. I beleive all the power to my clock was through the printed circuit. My guess is that what you have is a left over of someone's attempt to troubleshoot the clock in the past. Perhaps to try another power source and verify the printed circuit wasn't the problem.
I'm courious as to what type of repair you elected to do? I've thought about going to a Quartz kit but I'm kinda of a "keep it original" guy and was going to contact "Clocks by Roger" and see about getting my original clock fixed or getting a new one NOS.
