High Oil pressure = engine pulled!
last weekend I ran into a problem with my ZZ4 motor on my 86. It started blowing oil out the timing chain cover. The gasket had failed. In the meantime - I had noticed very high oil pressure (like 73 lbs at 2200 RPM). And I still have an RPM vibration above about 3500.
So just to be safe - I pulled the motor! That way It also facilitates a good seal and ease of work all around! I can look closely at the oil pump etc. Any ideas about why oil pressure is reading so high? (could be the sending unit) - but readings jumped from 38 at idle to 60 at idle, That can't be good!
In the mean time I guess I'll switch out the flywheel
- The vibration coincidedRan into a little problem last week - the ZZ4 motor in my 86 started to blow oil out the side of the timing with the installation of a Fidanza flywheel (frankly, calls to their tech support did not inspire any confidence that their flywheel was not the problem, just the opposite was true - the more the guy talked - the dumber he got! At the same time he got more and more arrogant - can't imagine why, He had no detectable useable knowledge!
And since I have the motor out - why not replace front tie rods (looseness in an upper arm)as well as do a complete rebushing! Any recomendations as to suppliers?
Too much work - but I am getting ready for the sand hills open road race (Nebraska) - and I wan't to make sure everything is A-OK before I got out there!
Thanks for all the help guys!
