Default Power Brake Booster

Is there any way to test the power brake booster with it still in the car. I tried to pump it up with a mity vac pump and could never get it into a vacuum. I've got about 10 in of vac. at idle but no power brakes.

10 inches is marginal...you may not achieve power brakes unless you correct/raise the vacuum or add an electric vacuum pump.

What's the magic number? That is at a pretty slow idle. The motor has a comp XE262 cam that I was told would produce enough vac to get the job done. The only other thing I can think of is a leak within the booster.

block the booster port and recheck the vac, make sure what your vac actually is. If it comes up, you have a booster leak, replace it and your goos to go

13 inches seems to be the break-point. Some systems will do good with 13, some not. Perhaps your Vette has a leak somewhere.

I have 8-10 with a hot roller cam. No issues with operating the booster.
