Shortie Headers

I need to replace the exhaust on my 76 and am thinking about using shortie headers and attaching them to the stock front Y pipe. I still need to pass inspection for converter so going to duals is not an option. My inspection stations said this would be ok as long as I pass through a converter.

Anyone have this? Any suggestions on which shorties will fit without major problems.

Did they tell you about the need to have the AIR pump feed into the headers?

I don't know about shorty headers but there are some smog legal long headers out there. Like you said as long as they pass through the converter there should not be a problem. Long or short would work with the converter.

If you havnt already you should go with the a high flow catalytic converter as well. more flow more power plus cooler operation.
