Default passenger hood latch stuck

The driver side pops fine, but the passenger wont at all. not even a slight click to make it sound like it is almost popping and stuck...it is completly silent like maybe the linkage between the pull-lever and latch is broken. any way to jimmy it open without breaking anything? if i can get it open, i can replace the whole latching assembly

if you can get a little clearance with one side open, you might be able to get a finger or wire hanger or something in there to snag the cable running between the two latches near the cowl. give that cable a tug and (assuming it isnt broken) you should be able to pop the latch. good luck

www.corvettefaq.com also there is an access hole that you can use to unlatch it by using a screwdriver. I've never had to do it somebody else please chime in.

Ok well after jacking with it enough, I got the hood open. I didnt have much light, but from what i could see, the cable wan fine, and the latch was fine. I think the problem is somewhere in the linkage of the pull lever and the cord. either way, i should be able to fix it tomorrow in the light.

thanks for the help

On the passenger side under the hood there is a wire to you need to pull...easy to get to if you have the driver side unlatched. pull it and it will unlatch the other side...when the hood is open make sure you oil all pivoting joints and make sure the hood pins goes exactly in the center of the hood latch receivers...best way to do that it to put a piece of tape over the receiver and lower the hood and see where the hood pin dents the tape. If it is not exactly center then you need to make adjustments or it will always bind

I've done it a few times. There are plugs in the void where the windshield wiper mechanism resides. Pop the plug out. Stick your middle finger in that hole (here come the jokes) and you can feel the mechanism. Take a fairly thick screwdriver and place it against the mechanism and exert some pressure and it will pop when you get it right. It may take a few tries even when you have done it so be patient. For those of you who haven't done it, I would try it while yours works properly, and you can see just how to do it. It saved my *** a couple of times.

first off, thanks to all for the help

i got it open last nite, but with no light i couldnt see what was wrong, so lastched the driver side and called it a night. then this morning i realized that the cord going to the passenger latch is stretched out or something. i could pull the cord on the drivers side and make the latch on the passenger side disengage on open, and with the hood open i could see that everything on the passenger side was lining up fine and that the cord was still attached. im not sure if the pull lever in the cab need to be tighter or what, but the little plate with the holes punched in it, hooking to the drivers side is already on the hole closest to the passenger side. so i guess theres no way to tweak with that. i guess i need a new cord, or pull lever assembly
