First I heard of Flow Kooler, I see that summit carries them. If it were me and I was going to the expense of installing the Dewitts Aluminum Direct Fit radiator, I would use the best aluminum pump: http://www.stewartcomponents.com/
I am using the Moroso aluminum pump, bought it before I knew about the Stewarts.
I put a Flow Kooler on my SB and it has worked fine. Only one problem, it was a short pump, but I never measured it. Seems it may not have been a Corvette specific pump as I ordered because I had all kinds of belt alignment issues putting everything back together. Besides that, it has been great!
I did something similar to what you are doing. I installed a Dewitt Direct Fit aluminum radiator and a Stewart HP aluminum pump and T-Stat and filled it with Evans NPG+ coolant. I haven't got the engine above 186F since I did it. That was 4 years ago
b71 hit the nail on the head - either Stage 1 or Stage 2 Stewart. They're very well built and last - I had one on an engine for 180K before it finally gave up the ghost. This was on a serpentine belt system, so it had plenty of side load from the belt.
I can't say what I think of this vendor on the forum That is putting it nicely.
All they are doing is refurbishing old pumps and installing a wider impeller to get higher flow. It's a good sound idea, that is if you get a pump from them that doesn't have a problem.
I used to have a custom blue metal flake motor. I buy a new FKooler cast pump and I polished it up because of the ruff casting flashing and paint it blue to match my motor. I reinstall the pump and fire up the motor. The thing is dripping anti-freeze out the snout because the seal is bad when they rebuilt it. I had to have my Vette running - right now! So I called them up and they gave me the run around about without a return they coudn't send me another pump. Mistake #2 on my part, I agreed to buy another pump and they agreed to credit my card when they got the bad one back.
So there I am polishing and grinding the second pump. With paint and reinstalled. 2-3 weeks go by and my Visa bill arrives with two pumps and shipping cost. So I call flow kooler and they lady tells me that since I painted the pump they could not refund my money. So I got pissed and they did not refund my money, but they did send another one. So I have a brand new one sitting in a box and my Blue one still on my old 355 ci on a motor stand in a plastic bag.
