Single 16" Spal fan, no AC, Fan-PWM wired per instructions. With the exception that I ran the blue(AC) wire to a 12 volt source with a switch so I could manually turn the fan on. When I do, the fan will run full for a few seconds then slow to a stop and hum. Should not this set up work as I'm thinking?
The car isn't running yet I just trying to get stuff up and working.

According the SPAL Contoller manual the fan should run 100% with a 12 volt source applied to the blue wire. I have the dual spals and I have tested this.
If you purchased it from Dewitt's give Tom a call.
May be a coincidence, but I just got a bad sensor unit (the dohicky just off the top of the thermostat) from a DeWitt relay unit. Runs fine without it. Soon as I wade through my paperwork I'm sending the dohicky back.
Like I said, car isn't running yet. I'm testing the stuff I can before I fire it. I assumed the fan would run in that mode even if the coolant was cold. Wanted someone here to confirm it

I got the controller and sent it back to SPAL. I discussed it with the tech support people and they said it sounded like a voltage drop off. Maybe your test introduced 12v at first but then it dropped to a lower voltage when the fans kicked on. They're going to test it and let me know
