Default Wheel/Tire Combos

Hey guys,
Well, I almost have my corvette back on the road, after a solid year of work. Just the interior and the paint left (no more fun stuff).
I am looking at getting a reasonable wheel/tire combo. I would like an open wheel look since I painted the calipers, and also a big size. I am not sure what I can get without offset trailing arms as far as width and what is the maximum diameter? Any wheel pictures would be awesome! As far as tires, I am looking for a tire that will mainly perform on the street/track, although I can see myself running the drag strip every now and again. I know this is sort of a tough topic especially with what I want, but your guys' insight would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt

Check out my signature picture. Stock trailing arms running 17/18 with 255 45 17 and 275 40 18s rear. It is tight but nothing rubs.

Bee Jay why did you use 17" front and 18" rear?
Was there a problem useing 18" wheels on the front or is it because that is the way those wheels are used on the Z06.
Did you need to use spacers.

I bought a set of Z06 replica's at the Pomona swap meet. The Z06 was sold with 17s up front and 18's in the back. I'll have 18s all around as soon as I find some affordable 295/35-18s.
