While driving, I heard a thud and dropped my 3rd and 4th gear shifter rod and the rod got bent and fell off the car. I immediately could not shift into 1st and 2nd and 3rd and 4th had full movement since the rod was gone. I replaced the rod with those bad "G" pins to connect it. I now cannot shift into any gear but reverse. Is there a broken or misaligned shifter part or is the transmission stuck. I did not try to move the tranny lever before connecting the rod. Wish I did this to see if levers are bound. Need help

I have no faith in mine either... it's just a matter of time one of the forum experts will answer and I will do what it takes before my Vette becomes like yours.
When you replaced the 3-4 rod did you realign the shifter? If it's misaligned the gates won't line up and it wont let you shift.
When you installed the 3-4 rod did you make sure the lever on the tranny was pointed straight up and down? The muncie side cover does not allow you to be in more than one gear at once. There are interlocking levers with detents on the inside of the side cover that prevent the 1-2 lever from moving if the 3-4 lever is in gear and vice-versa. You need to get back under there and make sure the transmission is in neutral and do a basic alignment of the shifter. The shop manual has a procedure on how to do that.
Steve,
Great advise and thought it could be something like that. I will try this today or tomorrow and let you know. Thank god for you technical guys out there that answer posts. You have got me out of many problems and surely are better than the shop manuals. I would like to know who wrote them because they are not simple to use. I have often re-read the manuals after figuring out how to do something and would like to have edited the manual to read plain english. Thanks again Steve.

There is an alighment tool to fit in the shifter to align everything up for adjustments etc. Haynes has a template to make one or you can purchace one from ZIP ( believe it is the proper tool, but I made mine). The assembly manual has a great adjustment procedure.
Good luck
John
