Does anyone know, and can provide factory evidence of, a convertable top delete option on a '68 convertable?
The '63 through '67's had a large number of cars sold with JUST the removable hard top. They were ordered with no soft top. But, the Corvette Black Book makes no mention of the C3's having this option.
What you are describing was not exactly a "delete" option. The buyer had the choice of specifying a soft top OR a hardtop at no charge (a buyer could also specify the soft top AND order the hard top at additional cost). I know that the 1968-72 cars were available this way and I believe it is a safe guess that the 1973-75 cars followed suit.
A buddy of mine used to own a very well documented 1971 LT-1 that was ordered as a "hardtop only" convertible. I can probably dig up some paper documentation (vehicle order sheet, dealer sales brochure, etc.) this evening if you like... If someone doesn't post it before then.

Re: Convertable top delete? (Mike P)
Right here my friend. The original owner installed a soft top a year after buying the car with the hardtop only. The window sticker shows the hardtop option at no additional cost.
My 69 was a hardtop only car. An owner added the soft top in 75. Will try to post a copy of the tank sticker. Chuck
I never knew that Chuck... I always thought that your '69 was a two top car for some reason. Kind of odd that the original buyer sprung for the L-68/M-40 combination and decided not to get both tops...

Re: Convertable top delete? (The Wanderer)
If they only knew then ... the price of a used soft top frame assembly now.
 :D   :D
If one can be found !
If I remember right, the original owner told me he paid around 300 for all the parts in late '69 or early '70. That is some major jack for that time period.
The pic of the sticker doesn't read well in the photo. The line on the sticker where it says "Conv Top" is blank. The next line "Aux Top" says Auxilliary Hardtop. It is weird, Stan. The car originally came from the Chicago area...Downers Grove to be exact. Maybe the original buyer thought it was too cold in "Chicagoland" for a convertible. Chuck
