My 69 427 has an HEI distributor from a 75. I wanted to get the Tach working so I purchased an HEI Unit with tach drive, but I haven't installed it yet. Since then I haved changed my mind about the distributor and would like to go with a stock look and HEI.
What I was thinking about was picking up a points distributor and converting it to HEI. with the Corvette America Breakerless Ignition kit. (#41508)
Would any distributor from say 69 to 74 work?
Any other alternatives? The stock look and no tach modification is a top priority.

Any one of the dist. will work but I would suggest that you take it to someone with a dist machine and have them set up the curve for it. Most of these dist. are well worn and the curve is all wrong. Once the curve is setup put in one of the point conversions and it will perform very well for you.
I converted my 74 to the Crane XR1 unit. Couldn't be happier with it. No more points to replace, no more dwell to set. Conversion was easy enough. Like Gordonm said, make sure the curve is set correctly. Get a set of springs and weight before you start the job. They are fairly cheap.
I have a points type tach drive that is in good shape you can change it to a electronic . I will ship it to you for 125.00 . If it works for you then you can pay me after you check out.

I converted my stock distributor about twenty years ago. I used a kit from Hayes, containing the reluctor wheel and pickup coil. Inexpensive, simple to install, and so far, bulletproof. I then wired it up to an HEI four terminal module installed inside the ignition shielding. The Hayes system outputs a waveform identical to the HEI wheel, so the four terminal module didn't know the difference. The system runs like a top. This setup may not be as aesthetically pleasing as some of the later units that install completely in the distributor, but I have a lot more confidence in the durability of the HEI module versus most aftermarket modules.
Good luck with what ever conversion direction you go.
Thanks all for the advice. The Crane unit is interesting and looks like it is sold by Karbelt here in the Great White North.
Thank for the distributor offer but I had another one just prior.
Thanks again, and it is a really great forum.
