I have a 76 with automatic. This is my first Vette, should there be an indicator showing (red needkle or something) what gear I'm in? There are dots by the shifter but nothing under the plastic lens showing if I'm in neutral, park, reverse, etc.
If there is, does anyone know where I can get one?
I have an 82. My shift indicator is white. Remove the side cover panels to the center shift console and see if the plastic indicator has come loose and fallen. If you can't find it, then Mid America, The last detail, or Year One would probably have one. There is a good chance you could find one on ebay. All of the companies listed above have websites. Do a google search. Good luck.

You would be incorrect. It was there, it's probably slipped off or broken.
My experience is that the repop needle doesn't fit...but that was 10 years ago. I found the original inside the console, painted it orange, and reinstalled. Still there. I think one of the Previous Idiots knocked it off the shifter during some Bubbafication.
