wow, that is gorgeous! Maybe you should bring pics to the track to show people what you started with. less than $10k ?? How much did the paint cost? 2005 Lamborghini Pearl Metallic Orange sounds like some mighty pricey paint!

Thanks for the very nice and generous comments, guys - I appreciate it.
Yes, the $10K is a bit misleading, since we can't really put a price on the amount of hours that went into it. But keep in mind that every single part on this car is fabricated - not bought. We bought the steering rack, the Wilwood disc brake setup, the coilovers, the Harwood hood, and the steering wheel, along with the new grill, lights and dash bezel. Every single clip, bracket, tube and panel on the car was fabricated from a pile of steel. The paint products alone ran about $2500 (with my wholesale discount), and this is my first-ever attempt at a tri-coat pearl paint job (took me about 8 beers to get calm enough to paint it). It came out better than the photos show - it looks like glass, and the color change in the sun is pretty awesome. We're having some fun with it!

GD -
I'm in our downdraft paint booth doing the shooting. The airflow is high enough that you can barely detect paint smell even without a mask. The guys that shoot on a daily basis use respirators, but I only shoot a couple times a year and have not had any issues with the activated filter/mask system in the high downflow environment. I also avoid standing in a position that puts me in the reflected blast or in the downdraft, since I'm fully aware of the hazards of the CC products...

Yes, I have 3 soundclip/videos of the car being started and driven around my neighborhood... not sure yet how to link those.
Does this mean you're avail for carb/distrib rebuilds again?
Very nice project. We all should aspire to build such nice creations for $10K and under!
Deuce coupes are the ideal platform. Typically powered by small(er) 4 and 6 cyl power plants, yet able to accomodate small block power, trans and diff. Same goes for the earlier mustangs.

...Keep in mind the $10K didn't include engine, tranny and rear end - that came out of the wrecked predecessor car...
No, can't do carbs for about a year. I'm tearing into the Forum Carb Test Car right now....

Actually....
The carb is an HP950 that we've borrowed from another racer with the promise that we won't touch it.
The distributor is an old Mallory Unilite that we've welded solid and locked at 36 degree timing. It has no advance function and no features other than triggering the spark box... No setup required.
