Default Just put on L88 hood

I ordered the L88 long style hood from Ecklers = http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1432
It is going on today and I should be geting pics on later today. Does anyone have any advice on this hood, as far as what I should do before I have it painted? I want to get the vent cut out so that it can allow air to flow into the engine bay, any advice on this? Thanks, and could someone post pics of your L88 hood and where it meets up near the windshield and the fender, thanks again.

I will post pics for sure, I am at work right now but will get the car some time after 2pm and will have pics up hopefully tonite. The hood will not be painted untill sometime next week, but the pics will show how it fits and what not, I have been having vapor lock problems because the carb has to sit right on the intake manifold and is geting to hot, so I need to have this hood on asap so I can fit a spacer and what not.

Are there any other people out there with the L-88 long style hood from ecklers?? I would like to hear from ya.

Mine's a short style; still like my wiper door, the neighborhood kids think it's cooool. When installing mine I found the hood needed some "tweeking" to fit properly. You may need to sand a little or build it up to match the opening. Building up is preferable, don't want to sand too much. For Pete's sake whatever you do, carefully watch the peak at the front to be sure it clears everything the first time you close and open it. Mine came from Ecklers as well; good stuff.

Don't know if this will help, but this is my 76, it had the L88 on it when I bought it.

Default long or short hood?

did you order a hood that elimates the wiper door? more changes have to be made to the car to make that style look right. if it is a short hood you may have to trim edges to get the gaps even .also what area do you want to cut out?

In terms of cutting the forward vent in the L-88 hood, there's a reason it comes filled, I found... once the vent is cut, it can greatly reduce the air flow that crosses your radiator, because the air simply slips up over the radiator support and up and out through the hood.

I've drawn up plans for an under-hood tray to block this opening off from below, hopefully preventing radiator pass-by, and allowing the vent to pull in fresh air from above (and into the air cleaner assy).

Trouble is, my schedule hasn't left me any time for fabrication. Someday...

Cool, can't wait to see the picks. This is on my list too. Just need to wait a bit. If I get any more parts delivered, my wife will kill my car. You lucky dog.
