Couldn't you just exchange them for stainless sleeve ones from any auto parts store. I think they come with a life time warranty.
If yours are sleeved other then a torque wrench hand tools work fine. The through bolts have a specific torque and it is different front to back.
Clean everything really well and it is very simple to install new pistons and their seals along with the outer seal
just make sure that the caliper bores are already sleeved and in good condition. if not, your wasting your time. it's a pretty easy to overhaul. good luck!
First thing I would look and see if you have stainless calipers now and if you don't invest in them. They are expensive but well worth it and will give you a lot less problems. If you don't have stainless and just overhaul yours you will probaly be doing them again within two years.Good luck.
How do I tell if the calipers are stainless? Also how can you tell if the bores are sleeved? As far as I know the calipers are orginal, which would be 1973.

remove one of the dust seals, piston and spring for inspection. red arrow points to a stainless steel sleeve added to the caliper bore.
ABS, the SS sleeving requires machine work that most guys don't have the tools or skills for, including me. If your calipers are SS lines already and are not corroded, you can get the VBP O-Ring conversion kit, all 4 calipers ID: 11312 $159 and your good to go. If they are not sleeved, I would just exchange them and then do the conversion later
