Default very hard accelerator pedal

The gas pedal on my 75 is very hard to depress. Could this be the fault of the carb. return spring? I am the original owner and the carb. springs are silver and blue.

A simple fix. First take off the spring and make sure nothing is binding up by manually moving the linkage. If not, then take your current spings in hand to a local auto parts store and compare feel of the pull to another set to find ones that have lighter tension. If you find binding in the linkage, then theres the place to start looking.

easy enough to check.
unhook the cable from the carb linkage and see if the cable moves freely or feels like it's binding up. While the cable is off the linkage, see if the linkage on the carb moves and returns freely and easily.
This way you can determine which is the problem area
