OK, my '77 now has the undercarriage POR 15'd, the Rr Suspension package has arrived, Rr Diff is being rebuilt with 3:73 gears, Tranny is undergoing a performance rebuild that will be tailored to an Edelbrock RPM Performer Package, new U-joints (no zerk fittings) will be in next week. So now... I turn my attention to the engine...
Can anyone recommend a reputable stroker kit for around $800? I found this one on Ebay: Item #8060363841. I have the original block to start with but it's only a 2-bolt. Should I set my sights higher? Perhaps a 355 4-bolt or 400 block?
Scat has an internal balanced cast steel crank for 383s in kit form
in close to that price. Eagles 3.75 stroke crank kits at the lower
price level are external balanced. Internal balance is a much better
way to balance. I talked to scat on the phone and they will give
out the part no for the rotating kit but they will tell you its
cheaper to buy it from competition products, summit. They use
foreign steel and do all the macine work in California.
A two bolt will get the job done unless you want to rev the motor
at high rpm for long periods of time or you want to add supercharging,
Use new main bolts you never Know how many times the old
bolts have been torqued

Just checking and found the crank you mentioned for $231 at Sallee.
It comes set up for either a 5.7" or 6" stroke.
Eagle SIR rods are $239 for pressed fit and $259 and bushed at Summit.
The 2-bolt main is only a problem at high rpm, a 383 does not require high rpm. For a "mild" stroker a cast crank and a 2-bolt main should be fine.
On the other hand: a new GM 4-bolt block (1 or 2 piece rear seal) is only $800 shipped... how much is it to get your block machined ???
Decisions decisions...... I'm going thru this for the past 6 months....
check prices at PAW, Summit, Jegs, theenigestore.com, ohiocrank.com a.s.o....

For around $950, I can sell NEW internally balanced 383 stroker kit:
2-bolt block is OK. Nothing "wrong" w/ ebay item#8060363841 ... but it is EXTERNAL balance, has short 5.7" rods & hypereutectic pistons. Email if serious about getting kit from me.
the two bolt can be converted to four bolt for around $100. eagle makes 4 bolt main caps for this and comes with bolts and drill bushings. after installing, just have the block line bored. I know you can find the kit at jegs.
