I'm looking at a pair of Flowtech Headers for my 79, followed by true duals and Flowmaster's Delta Flow 40's (stainless). My question is how are Flowtech's headers quality? They seem a lot less expensive then Hedmans and Hookers. I assume that you get what you pay for... but how bad can they be? Anyone have them?
Even the Ceramic Coated will rust? I forgot to add that the one's I'm looking at are ceramic coated.
**Also** I forgot to add a question about the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40's. Will they be too loud? The guy at Summit said they'd be a lot quieter then the older Flowmaster 40's.
couldnt tell you about mufflers, I do not have any installed, just converters.
Yes, they will rust with the ceramic coating. I contacted the manufacturer about this and Holley told me, the ceramic coating is NOT a rust inhibitor.
They still rust but I have noticed that after about 45 minutes or so drive run time, the rust seems to "grey out". But it returns first time they get damp.
Here is a pic of the rust from recent (disreguard the red arrow, different topic).

Just out of curiosity do you mind if I ask how much you guys ended up paying for the headers. I think that is what my 78 needs to breathe a little easier.
Flowtechs are 100% !!! And their customer support is the pits too!. I have not bought a Holley product in years because of an experience with their Flowtech brand headers, and particularly, with one of their tech support people who told me, "I guess we just don't make products for YOUR car". I agree, they don't make products for our cars! God bless, Sensei

This is exactly the setup I have on my 76....Flowtech ceremic coated headers, 2.5" duals and Flowmaster 40's (sounds absolutely great by the way)...I chased an exhaust leak for a long time before I found it::::::In one of the headers tubes about 1/4" from the heads there was a small pinhole ...not real impressed with the QC at flowtech. Luckily I have a MIG welder and just put a bead on it
I have Dynomax Ceramacoat headers and I've never had a bit of rust even where I dimpled the pipe to clear the clutch cross shaft. Why buy Ceramic coating if its gonna rust??????

Sounds like Dynomax has a better coating then Flowtech. I'm gonna have to see what the price is for Dynomax. I have a feeling it's going to be a lot more then the Flowtech. As I said in my first post of this thread. I guess you get what you pay for.....
