Default Wiper problem

See if anyone can help. I have a 71 and when I bought it the wiper motor was burned out so I got rid of it 4 years later I deside to put a new one in. I figured out how the wire harness gos but where does the single wire go to I found a red with whith stripe that fits but I get nothing with engine running and the wiper switch on. I see there is a limit switch is the wire that gos into the single lead and if it is what volts should it be. Any help would be great.
Thanks
warren

If no one chimes in by the time I get home I'll check mine, I just repainted it and re-installed it. But you should also have a ground wire that attaches to a spade lug on the front I think. The motor is mounted in rubber mounts on the fiberglass so no connection to the chassis. I believe there's a plug on top of mine with the hot wires if they're the same. (Man it's tough to get old, I just did this a couple of months ago!!!)

Edit: Well, not much help for you, no red with a white stripe. Here's a pic of mine for what it's worth:

Another thing you might want to check is the disable switch that allows you to turn the wipers off while they are up on the windshield. It's located under the steering column between the 2 vacuum override switches. I didn't know what that switch did until someone from the forum clued me in.

The red wire should be hot all the time when the switch under the steering column is closed and the limit switch on the firewall on the passenger side of the wiper motor is closed . Hope that helps. Al
