I took a minute to draw up the sidepipes that I am building to clear the 325's on the rear and quiet down the beast a bit.
I chose the 25 inch muffler as I have 20 inches if 3.5 inch baffle in my current pipes. These are a full 4" id. Hopefully more attenuation and better flow.
I drew up the dimensions of the tabs in case anyone wanted to copy them for use in a project. I was gonna CNC plasma cut them from 1/8 sheet. But I had some 1.5 x 0.125 flat stock so I will do it on the CNC Mill. Cut 4 blanks, zero the mill, hit Cycle Start and get a beer. I'll cut all 4 at once.
Welded the sidepipes together this afternoon and installed them on the car. They are a direct replacment for the Hooker sidepipes. I am very pleased, the sound is there but it is very mellow until about 3500. The mufflers are 4 inch ID and 5 inch OD. I can now carry on a conversation with the passenger comfortably with the side windows down at any speed up to about 80 mph.
I ended them flush with the edge of the fender lip. No more tire clearance issues.
I'll send them to jet hot over the winter.
I was headed for a ticket and a hearing aid before.
