Default Weiand Water pump failure

I bought a Weiand WP, I think the number is 8620 for my new motor. I filled it up with water just in case I had a leak. Guess what I did. The back gasket for the back plate got pushed out and allowed a leak. Ireplaced the gasket and filled it back up (with anti freeze this time). Took it out and no problem. Just a short drive. Well it started to leak again. I replaced it. Well today I had it out for another short drive and you guessed it an engine compartment full of squeeze. Blew the gasket again. I have tried different sealers and different torques, this plate and gasket just are not working. I have not driven it over 5 miles so far. I'm geting a little ticked off at Weiand. I had to change this gasket on the side of the road. Could not make it home. Anyone else run this pump with success or am I just doomed with this pump.

What was wrong with the original water pump? Why the need for an aftermarket pump? 99% of the people think that a bigger radiator or a high pressure or a higher flow water pump will solve their overheating. Pushing too much water or too fast through the engine will actually cause the engine to run hotter. Why not just go to your flaps and get a new stock unit, paint it orange , put it on and run it for another 50,000 miles. Just MHO.

Go ahead spend the money on a Stewart Stage II..

And Don you go ahead and get on at the FLAPS.. The FLAP's autopart waterpumps have a stamped impeler now adays and do not flow as much as an original stock pump. The original pump has a cast impeler that flows much better. Dave

No cooling problems ever. Not looking to keep it cooler. The old pump was 12 years old, just looking to prevent any WP problems. I wanted to upgrade to a better pump. Looking to improve always. There is nothing wrong with the pump it is the sealing of the pump. I might try an RTV gasket or just replace it with a different type of aluminum pump.
