Default Convertible Top Repair

I live in North Western New Jersey and I own a '72 with a black ragtop. The top is in decent shape except for a 4 inch section where the rear window seperated from the top. Is there anything out there that I can use to repair it or is there any place that I can take it to? If need be, I'd be willing to replace it but I don't know where to go for that either????...anybody have any suggestions?

There's a place on Hackensack Ave in Hackensack NJ right before the light where Target is. Not sure of the name but they do Convertible tops.

Do it yourself. I did. $170 from Al Knoch.

I had the same issue. Search and search for something that would work...Believe it or not, the stuff you use to fix a leak in vinyl pools works like a charm. I used it last summer...top up, down, etc, still intact.

Did you repair it with the top still on the car?...how long did it take to dry?

Yes, I applied it with the top on the car. I had about a 4" separation right where the window bends when you put the top down.

The stuff I used is called...vinyl pool repair kit for underwater repairs...so I figured it had to be good. I let it dry for days before I put the top down, but 24 hrs would probably due. I got the stuff at Lowes.

I had the same problem on mine when I got it. Use the same vinyl repairs mentioned, but the top was just too old and it ripped again after just a few months. I took a chance and picked up a Al Knoch top and did it myself with the help of a fairly competent top guy. It was relatively easy, and once it was done, I knew I'd never repair another one. So inexpensive and it looks awesome.

Be aware that the frames often need work as well, but if your interested I can go into great detail on the things I ran into while replacing the top.

I stopped at the pool store on my way home yesterday and picked some up. Works great! Top still looks like roadkill, but it is all in 1 piece now. A good temp fix until I can replace it.
