I have a friend helping me with my stock 1981 Auto and asked the following question: Ask in the forum if anyone uses an interface cable with the PCM and what software they use (for your model year)

I don’t think that the S/W I use works on too many carbureted engines. On the bottom of this page there are the ECU / PCM numbers that it does work with.

Reading that computer is like reading sanskrit, good luck! Part of the reason it's popular to ditch that computer is because no one knows how to read it and such.

As far as I know, there isn't any software out that can.

The ECM in the '81 was unique. Although some other GM cars used a feedback carb in the 80s, no others used the same ECM. You might be able to use one of the newer ECMs however. I bought a tunable ECM off of EBAY a few years ago and it was supposed to work with all of the feedback carb cars (81 vette was listed) but it died shortly after it arrived. I suspect the capacitors leaked since it was built in the early '80s.
