Have you verified that the wire is connected to your sending unit? It is hard to see below the alternator. Next thing I would do is pull it, place it in hot water and see if your gauge increases. Of course you will need to have the power on and might have to ground the unit to make it work. Check the easy things first. It's possible it is just a bad sending unit.

Bear, to test the guage, simply turn on the ignition, pull the wire off of the sending unit and stick it to a ground (the engine block is good). The guage should be pegged out all the way, in which case the problem is probably the sending unit. If the guage doesn't move much, then it is probably defective. If it doesn't move at all, check to see that the connections are good from the guage to the sending unit. Hershey
