My upper hose sprung a leak yesterday and I discovered that it had a cut underneath where the fan could have nicked it. I put in a new hose and while driving today after it was warmed up I stopped and restarted the car and the upper hose collapsed causing the fan to slice another hole in the hose. I got another hose hooked it up and it too is collapsing upon shutting the car down after hitting the thermostat temp. What can cause this? thanks Jim
Slowly release the cap when the hose is collapsed and see if in re-inflates. A bad cap can cause it.
will try your advice in the morning, if it inflates i will move on to the next suggestion and try to "burp" the rad and get the air out. thanks will let you know how it goes.
Sounds to me like the little valve in the cap that allows fluid back into the radiator from the recovery tank is stuck shut. A new cap should fix the problem.
