GM # 14085720, 15 lbs for a two piece main seal. fits 1955-1985 internally balanced engines. Besides fitting SB`s it is also the OEM flywheel for a L88 or ZL1

If it's replacing an internal/neutral balance fw on an internal/neutral balance motor ... fw nor motor does not need to be re-balanced.
Big cost savings over the L-88 piece ($169.95 @ Scoggins-Dickey). I wonder if the part is strong enough for street/strip use?

The aluminum flywheels will have to have a steel facing rivited to it for the clutch disc. Stick to the GM lightweight and be safe. The oveseas product may not be as good as far as safty unless your limited in RPM`s with a hydraulic cam. The GM product is for extreme high RPM`s.

I personally know of a dozen or more asian L88 fw locally ... all running in 3K lb asphalt circle trackers w/ 375+ hp, sticky slicks, locked axles & 7K rpm. I've personally installed several. I'm not aware of any fw explosion. I trust the asian iron L88 more than any aluminum piece; best is billet steel but they're big$.

Virtually any 2-pc neutral/internal balance flywheel can run on a 2-pc external crank ... simply bolt in the additional balance weight between crank & fw. ... so ... L88 flywheel can be run w/ external sbc 400 & bbc454 ... as long as bolt in weight is added. ... it looks a lot like a shim ... don't weight much at all ... bolt-in weight is unique for each 400 & 454.

Not much sence buying the shim to make a 427 flywheel fit a 454, GM flywheel part # 3963537 does just that and is also another lightweight 15 lb wheel specifically designed for the extreme HP of the LS7 454`s or will also even fit the little SB 400`s.

I just noticed this post, the smallest lightweight flywheel available is a 12 3/4 that accepts a 10.4 clutch for early BB`s through 427`s that was actually the original high RPM high HP OEM L88 flywheel that can be used on most Chevy engines except those later internally ballanced engines. But GM also has a similar one for the externally balanced engines also.
