TT are you planning to run a heavy pressure plate, and do you think the clutch petal will be Strong enough for some heavy shifting?
Right now I have LT5 clutch equipment and it's a hydraulic clutch. The pedals are sgtrong enough, the tab that bolts them to the pedal rod is off center so you push directly on the rod, not on the side of the pedal which could lead to them breaking
TT on to A heavier question. I have with many others on this forum been following your progress. With all the mods you have done and plan to do what will the difference in weight be from stock to your finished weight?
I would like to think I lost some 300 lbs overall on my car, but, in truth I have never weighed it recently....
I would like to get some cheap stock type aluminum calipers/master cyl and then weigh in...and then mentally subtract 50 lbs for the purported weight ditching this 700 auto for the 200 auto....
I like those pedals TT, I'm using lots of carbonfiber on my current project and those pedals would be a nice addition...
I went with Sparco's alu pedals in the C3-R, no real weight saving, but on the looks department I think they are a huge improvement plus they are bit narrower, which suites me better!
Jay, what are you using for carbon fiber parts? I have (partially) carbon fiber intercoolers, brake ducting, oil cooler ducting, the pedals and a catch can.
we're just teasing you because we like you. There is not much we can tell you that you don't alrready know so we give you smart as comments instead. You know your are appreciated here.
And I'm sure getting rid of all the little stuff when you had the body off the frame will make a huge difference. It's all the little stuff that adds up, i.e. speakers, head unit, computer, wiring, switches, sensors, antenna motor, charcoal canister, spare tire stuff, cruise control, AC stuff etc. Also you cut off that huge vacuum canister for the headlights in front of the car didn't you?
The 80-82 cars don't have a large vac can, they have a small container that looks like a bean can botled to the front, it's very light but I got rid of it. I don't even have the very heavy front frame extension anymore, just a bumper bar w/ many holes triangulated into a tubular steel frame:
