hi, in my '77 with a 406ci 570hp and 530tq at 6.300 rpm i've uprate whole rear axle (3.5'' half shafts/stronger diff/HD TA, all fm vansteel), also clutch is well uprated with Mc leod clutch/disk plus ancillaries. stock at moment is a rebuilt T-10 and the 2.5'' driveshaft. question: will the driveshaft survive be beaten driven with road tires? and what about with et road/strip hoosiers? the T-10 is holding well up to now and some people told me they can take far over my output...advices? the car has been lightened dramatically loosing abt 700 lbs, will this play in favour of not braking the whole thing? thanks/Giu
The fact that you have taken 700 pounds of weight out of your
car will help all your drivetrain parts live a better life. I would
not worry about the stock driveshaft unless you are really going
to hammer the car hard with slicks.

I run slicks with all stock drive train and I haven't had any problems. Although I don't luanch very hard with my 220 stall converter and the manual valve body shifts smooth.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Super T 10 is rated at ~300ft/lbs of torque, if you motor has the power you say it has I am suprised you haven't twisted it in half by now. I know I broke two of them before upgrading to a TKO 600

it might be because i've never beaten the car that hard...never went further then 5.500 rpm and never let the car go clutch at high rpm from standing...
