Anyone else running one? I think I'm going to run one since I orderd my 406 kit balanced and I don't want to grind the rods down and have to rebalance again. I hear that grinding them smaller makes them weaker. I'm wondering if someone here has used them or had any issues with this style of cam.
Check with the kit manufacturer, most aftermarket rods will clear a normal cam in a 406. You must have read the same article I did about a 406 needing a SBC cam.

If your smart you would use Crane small base circle cams. If your stupid you will purchase a cam from comp cams and they will also tell you that it's a small base circle. My crane cams measured .930 inch diameter. Comp Cams were a whopping 1.030 or a 1/10 of and inch bigger.
In a stroker motor the Comp Cam lobes hit every rod. The Crane went right in.
I have a comp small base circle one, 3.75 stroke crank, 6 inch rods. Cleared all the rod bolts.
What size base circle and what size rods? Where you hit rods is on the larger H-beam type. They are physically wider at the point where the rod bolts threads just peak through. Like Manley 6 inch H-beam 685 gram rods. Little I beam rods like Olivers which only weigh in the 500 grams have plenty of clearance.
You have to ask the cam company what the base circle diameter is. Any cam under .980 is small base circle in my book. Comps 1.030 inch is not!
