Can this be done?I have a '76 and I am tired of fighting with window motors, switches wiring ect. and want to convert it to manual windows but no one sells a manual window regulator, they are all power regulators.Whats the trick?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I don't recommend you to change power windows to manual windows.
1. First of all power window is one optional equipment from
factory. Your call will appraise more with that option.
2. Second, power window circuitry, wiring and troubleshooting is not
difficult to learn. Only you have to buy the color wiring diagram,
voltmeter and electrical testers and read electrical information
related to how find short circuit, open circuit, perform continuity
test, etc.
Or if you insist, post a want to exchange thread.
I am sure that someone will trade his manual stuff for your PW stuff, possibly including the door panels.
I installed a power window setup keeping the manual crank functional. The manual handle can override the power windows clutch in case it fails and the car stays a manual as original.
I was just fed up with not being able to reach the crank when I am starpped in the seat wihtout banging my head against the steering wheel.
