I have a small condenser on the side of the coil on my 69 BB that is not attached to anything. Does anyone know which termial on the coil it is supposed to be attached to (+ or -)????

It is meant to filter out transients/spikes (noise) from the POWER - It should go on the +
Sorry it took me so long to respond, missed the thread in my inbox
the reason i say this is because curretn in the car flowes from Negative to positive (revers of normal dc flow) this is why if you look at the condensor on a voltage regutalor, or the the flasher or elsewhere, that are always mounted to the casing, or the brackets i.e. the ground.
i dont have my wiring diagrams handy. but I can go out to the car in the parking lot and take a pic if you like

It might go either place. If there is a condenser under the distributor cap, then this condenser attaches to the positive side of the coil to filter out voltage ripple/noise. If the points condenser is absent from under the distributor cap, then this condenser would hook up to the negative side of the coil to protect the points from arcing.
If it's designed to stop radio noise, it should be on the positive side...it's just a capacitor that takes Alternate Current to ground and shouldn't effect the coil function...IMHO...just my 2 cents...

Well, relative to this particular capacitor you are completely wrong!
Facts:
The negative side of the coil goes to the distributor (points/condensor)
The negative side of the coil is NOT a ground.
The capacitor being discussed is a NOISE FILTER CAPACITOR
Filter capacitors are used to filter noise from SUPPLY voltage (+ on the coil) so your radio (also connected to the SUPPLY voltage +) doesn't buzz and pop.
I'll go tally the votes. Once the votes are counted the result is final and the capacitor will be asked to be connected immediately.....
Sounds like it should go on the + terminal. I'll go connect 'er up and see if the beast fires up. If it does, then away we go. If it doesn't then I'll let you folks know.
Thanks for the insight and pics. I'll never disconnect it again.......
