Default c3 headlight actuator

HI

so on my actuator, if you pug the rear, you cant pull it out, and if you plug the rear, it cant be pushed in. this means its good right?
cause i did the test on the one site where you put vacuum on red to see if it holds and it didnt. but im wondering if there wasnt a good seal between the pump and actuator. but with the pull and push test i described above, the membrane seemes fine..
what do yal think

THANKS

Default Vacuum Tester

I just redid my whole vacuum system. The only way to be really sure is to buy (or borrow) a vacuum tester. They are fairly inexpensive (40 or 50 bucks) and are like a hand pump with a vacuum gauge. It has a hose that you hook up to the port, then you pump it up until the actuator moves. If it doesn't move, the actuator is bad (obviously). If it does move, you continue pumping until you get to 15 or so psi and then stop and watch the gauge for a minute or so. If it doesn't move, then your actuator is fine. Repeat for the other port to see if it works in the other direction. I had my windshield door actuator work fine in one direction and leak in the other.

The actuators sometimes are stiff and the fact that you can't move it by hand is not a good indicator of whether or not it is "good". The only way to know is to use a tester.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Default Actuater

With the engine running If you take the red hose off, and put the green on the red the lights will open. put the red back on and the lights will close. The lights always have a vacume with the engine running and
when you pull out the headlight switch the vacume goes away and the lights open. If they opened and closed like I said the actuater(s) are bad. I replaced both and the lights work fine now
